King Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Honor

Senior Jeannette King was honored by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America with Individual Scholar All-America honors it was announced Friday. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. A total of 1,206 swimmers and divers were recogized with the honor for the 2021-22 season.

King, who is a nursing major, was named to the Second Team. King achieved a 4.0 GPA and posted an NCAA ‘B’ qualifying standard in the 100 yard backstroke. She is a two-time Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Meet and helped lead the Blue Devils to a second-place at the conference championships in the spring. King was the only honoree from the NEC on the list and is the first student-athlete from the league to be recognized since CCSU’s Maddie Garber and Annmarie Durham were selected in 2017.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a “B” time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.
