Italian shipyard ICE YACHTS will participate at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival with… two World debuts: the ICE 70rs and the ICE 62 Targa.
Behind the scene of the ICE 62 Targa
Targa is an exclusive version and even easier sailing than the already well-known high-speed ICE 60. This boat perfectly suits the shipowners who are looking for a performing and safe boat, especially suitable for solo navigation and fast cruise, including maximum comfort.
The ICE 62 Targa is a fast cruiser with lot of space, an intriguing line that reminds us of the typical stylistic features of the yard, and an addition of functional details such as the distinctive carbon rollbar with a carbon T-top.
Its modern design is marked by a reversal bow (scimitar shape), with a carbon bowsprit of 1.3 meters, acknowledged as the elder brother, and the natural evolution of ICE 52, a further ICE YACHTS bestseller with over 15 units produced nowadays.
The hydrodynamics of the boat is defined by water lines and appendices characterized by an unprecedented draft with variable depth from 2.30 to 3.80 meters; double rudder blades, bow thruster, retractable bow and stern thruster to guarantee maximum simplicity during the mooring.
Particular attention has been paid to saving weight in order to install a Yanmar engine of 195 horsepower that allows incredible performances also without wind. The engine cruise top speed reaches and goes above 12 knots.
The modern design of the ICE 70
The ICE 70rs, developed directly by Umberto Felci‘s studio together with the shipyard’s technical staff, is a fast cruiser with incredible exploitation of space, a beautiful line, and modern interior design. Consequently, the guests are put in the foreground, giving the owner a suite worthy of the name and providing a crew accommodation different from the usual loculus.
The water lines and the appendages are this time characterized by a variable draught thanks to the lifting keel with Cariboni hydraulics that provides a draft from 2.80 meters to about 4.40m and are designed to achieve great performances. With impressive results that highlight the attitude of ICE 70rs, it is able to climb the wind at tight angles and to glide very fast to the bearing gaits by engine.
The shell and the deck are laminated in infusion from the female mold using carbon fibers; the structures always in carbon are laminated in place and also made in infusion, becoming one with hull and deck, eliminating creaks and noises. In addition to the classic gluing, the deck is bonded to the hull as well as all the bulkheads, creating a monolithic and very rigid structure. These choices, in addition to containing the weights, give the boat a solidity and strength able to withstand repeated stresses and heavy loads that are faced even in the most challenging conditions. Moreover, among the many services on board, there are structural carbon tanks for liquids under the flooring of the dinette, and a super soundproof engine room with double seals on the doors.
Thanks to the technologies used for the realization of the interiors, such as the use of lightened panels, a considerable saving of weight is obtained compared to a traditional realization, without renouncing to the quality of the carpentry work, both in the refinement of finishes and in the excellence of details. The interiors are foreseen in the version with 4 cabins, 3 bathrooms, and a large open kitchen.
