Grading Washington’s 2021 NFL draft class

There were red flags concerning Davis. While he played multiple seasons for Kentucky, he only started one season. His 2020 season was outstanding, but Washington was gambling that Davis’ physical tools would translate into immediate NFL success.

It didn’t happen. Washington wanted Davis to play the Mike linebacker spot, but it was clear Davis wasn’t ready for that position. After the season, Ron Rivera admitted Davis was best suited to play outside in a 4-3 defense.

That’s great, but Washington didn’t draft Davis to play outside. Davis showed flashes in 2021, and he is an intelligent player with loads of athleticism, but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t concerned moving forward.
