Alabama Roots: NFL Draft picks sign for $192 million

When former Alabama All-American Landon Dickerson signed his first NFL contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, all the players from Alabama high schools and colleges selected in the 2021 NFL Draft were under contract.

Twenty-one players with Alabama football roots were drafted during the three-day event from April 29 through May 1, starting with Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who went to the Miami Dolphins with the sixth selection.

Each player picked in the NFL Draft receives a four-year contract, and the range in the total value of those deals for the state’s players in the 2021 draft stretches from around $27.1 million to about $3.6 million. The approximate value of the 21 contracts is $191.9 million.

First round, Miami Dolphins: Four years for $27,085,993, including a $17,058,904 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

First round, Denver Broncos: Four years for $20,962,628, including a $12,605,548 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

DeVonta Smith, wide receiver, Alabama

First round, Philadelphia Eagles: Four years for $20,141,390, including a $12,008,284 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

Mac Jones, quarterback, Alabama:

First round, New England Patriots: Four years for $15,586,352, including a $8,695,528 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

Alex Leatherwood, offensive tackle, Alabama

First round, Las Vegas Raiders: Four years for $14,391,564, including a $7,826,592 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

Kadarius Toney, wide receiver, Blount High School

First round, New York Giants: Four years for $13,719,508, including a $7,337,824 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

Najee Harris, running back, Alabama

First round, Pittsburgh Steelers: Four years for $13,047,447, including a $6,849,052 signing bonus. The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a team option for a fifth season.

Landon Dickerson, center, Alabama

Second round, Philadelphia Eagles: Four years for $8,656,675, including a $3,655,764 signing bonus and $4,709,249 in guaranteed money.

Christian Barmore, defensive tackle, Alabama

Second round, New England Patriots: Four years for $8,522,244, including a $3,557,996 signing bonus and $4,605,371 in guaranteed money.

Aaron Robinson, cornerback, Alabama

Third round, New York Giants: Four years for $5,143,292, including a $1,100,576 signing bonus. The signing bonus is the guaranteed portion of the contract.
