Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee has just approved a proposal by three companies in three separate industrial zones (IZs) to temporarily arrange for workers to stay at work.

The three businesses in Dong Nai include Ocean Coastings (Vietnam) Co., Ltd (Long Thanh IZ), Shinpoong Daewoo Vietnam Pharma Co., Ltd (Bien Hoa 2 IZ) and Vietnam Greenfeed JSC (Song May IZ).

Dong Nai People’s Committee also suggested businesses coordinate with health centres to organise testing for workers. After receiving negative results, they will be allowed to arrange for their entire workforce to stay at their workplace for a few days. Testing costs are covered by the businesses.

At the same time, the province suggested that businesses require workers including foreign experts who are permanently or temporarily residing in pandemic-hit provinces or cities such as HCM City and Binh Duong, and those who are implementing social distancing according to the Directive 15/CT-TTg and Directive 16/CT-TTg, to rent a house or stay at residential establishments in the province.

This proposal would minimise daily travel from pandemic areas to prevent the disease from spreading in companies and factories.

If workers or experts have to go home each day, it is suggested that business leaders require employees to commit to strictly implementing measures to prevent and control the pandemic.

Previously, Thai Bao, deputy Chair of Dong Nai’s People’s Committee worked with Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority (DISA) and departments, agencies in the province to consider the organisation of temporary stay for workers at businesses in IZs of Dong Nai.

Pham Van Cuong, deputy director of DISA said that the temporary arrangement of accommodation for workers at businesses would help reduce the risk of infection.

He added that the plans to arrange work and accommodation at businesses must meet the requirements of the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic, the assurance of security, the prevention of fire and explosion, food safety, as well as environmental hygiene.
