Willem II vs PSV build-up & previous line-ups:
Undoubtedly the early surprise package of this season is Willem II who come into matchday seven on 13 points and consequently sitting third. The club from Tilburg finished 14th last season and in five of their previous six campaigns before this season they finished outside tenth place. The anomaly was 2019/20 when Adrie Koster guided Willem II to fifth, that season also just happened to be the last time Superkruiken won a home league game over PSV, and Fred Grim’s current side have momentum. Things started off on the wrong foot with a 0-4 loss against Feyenoord but they swiftly recovered by registering back-to-back wins over Vitesse and PEC Zwolle before a goalless draw with NEC however that has since been forgotten as they’ve picked up narrow 2-1 wins over Groningen and RKC Waalwijk.
A four-game winning streak to open the season ended when Feyenoord humbled PSV at home on matchday five. Roger Schmidt’s men were swept aside by the Rotterdammers who ran out 0-4 winners. It subsequently ended their 11-game unbeaten streak at the Philips Stadion but on the road PSV have won their last three on the bounce (seven goals scored and one conceded) including last time out at Go Ahead Eagles when they snatched all three points from the jaws of a draw. Also in their previous 45 visits to Willem II the Eindhoven-based club have left with 26 wins and have tasted 10 defeats the last of which as touched upon came in November 2019.
- Willem II (vs RKC Waalwijk): Wellenreuther; Roemeratoe, Heerkens, Jenssen, Köhn; Llonch, Saddiki; Nunnely, Saglam, Köhlert; Kwasi Wriedt.
- PSV (vs Go Ahead Eagles): Drommel; Mwene, Ramalho, Boscagli, Max; Van Ginkel, Thomas; Madueke, Doan, Gakpo; Zahavi.

Player to watch: Cody Gakpo (PSV)
After starting the season on fire, by registering one goal and creating four more across PSV’s opening three Eredivisie matches, Cody Gakpo naturally cooled off but last time out against Go Ahead Eagles he reminded everyone why his ceiling is so high. The 22-year-old forward, who netted a first international goal for the Netherlands earlier this month, opened the scoring for Roger Schmidt’s side before assisting Marco van Ginkel’s winner four minutes from time. Heading into this weekend’s fixture no PSV player has been involved in more goals than Gakpo (two goals and four assists).
