Why Dortmund chief’s words on Erling Haaland is actually good news for Chelsea – Talk Chelsea

First of all, I’m going to ask you guys to remember all the words that the manager, owner, and chief of Bayer Leverkusen were saying about Chelsea’s pursuit of Kai Havertz last summer before reading on.

They basically said he wasn’t for sale and wasn’t going anywhere.

Fast forward one summer, Chelsea are now trying to pull off a crazy deal to sign Dortmund striker Eling Haaland, which still seems a very hard task admittedly.

However, the stars are really starting to align in my opinion with this deal, and that is even without today’s news of Haaland being refusing to answer and just smiling when asked if he was staying at Dortmund this summer.

Before this, both Dortmund head of sport Michael Zorc, and new director Sebastian Kehl have spoken publicly about Haaland.

Instead of staying ‘he is not for sale at any price’ which even still would not always mean that is true, but they have both been very structured and tactical in their words.

Kehl for instance, even mentions Chelsea’s name, which is acknowledging their interest. It suggests something more has been going on behind the scenes and Chelsea are at least trying here.

“Haaland to Chelsea? I read about it, but for us nothing has changed: we have plans with Erling for next season, he and his agent are aware of it. We expect him back this week.” – Kehl.

We ‘EXPECT’ him back this week is also significant. They ‘PLAN’ with Haaland is again, quite telling words.

To sum it up, this to me means they are entirely leaving the door open for Haaland to still leave this summer, and leave to Chelsea.

This is not saying it will get done, of course we all know Chelsea will need to pay the fee if they want to sign him, but all these things over the last couple of days and the more and more transfer reports coming out about it and people talking about it, is only a very positive sign for Chelsea’s pursuit in my view.

Don’t get Haaland on the back of your shits just yet though!
