Arsenal welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Emirates Stadium in Super Sunday Night Football.

Victory would see Arsenal climb to ninth, whereas West Brom will be relegated if they lose this match.

Granit Xhaka is a doubt for Arsenal after suffering a muscle injury during warm-up for Thursday’s Europa League exit to Villarreal.

David Luiz is a doubt after a hamstring injury kept him out of Thursday’s match.

West Brom could welcome Robert Snodgrass back after the midfielder missed last week’s draw against Wolves, having needed an epidural to treat recurring knocks.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (ineligibility) and Branislav Ivanovic (hamstring) are ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Arsenal have lost just one of their last six meetings against West Brom (W4, D1, L1).
  • West Brom have won just one of 12 previous Premier League trips to Arsenal (W1, D1, L10)
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been caught offside more times than any other Arsenal player this season, straying offside on 14 separate occasions in 26 league appearances.
  • Out of all relegation sitting teams in England’s top four divisions, only League Two’s Scunthorpe has conceded less goals than West Brom coming into this weekend.
  • This is Arsenal’s first home game this season to be refereed by Peter Bankes, although they did win two of three away games under him in all competitions this season.

Prediction

Just days after thrashing Newcastle in a controlled display, Arsenal were just shambolic in Thursday’s Europa League exit because they just lacked any motivation for most of the match despite needing just one goal to reach the Final.

I therefore genuinely am unsure as to which Arsenal team will roll up here because they are just too unpredictable to call, whilst supporters will likely be outside the stadium again protesting which won’t help moral amongst players.

Having fought their way to a draw at home to Wolves despite being the second-best team in attack, West Brom really need to give it everything against an unpredictable Arsenal team if they’re to starve off the threat of relegation for at least 24 more hours.

Should Sam Allardyce’s Baggies do that and are able to dominate whilst Arsenal fans protest outside, I can see them nicking this otherwise Arsenal should take the three points if they can produce a display like they did at Newcastle last Sunday.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 WBA
