Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Everton to the AMEX Stadium in the second of a Monday Night Football double-header.

Victory for Brighton will see them climb to 16th and nine points clear of relegation, whereas Everton can go seventh with a win.

Brighton remain without Percy Tau after he was forced to quarantine upon returning from international duty, which forced him to miss last weekend’s loss at Manchester United.

Adam Webster (ankle), Dan Burn (thigh) and Aaron Connolly (foot) could be in contention but Tariq Lamptey (hamstring), Florian Andone and Solly March (both knee) remain absent.

Everton will be without Andre Gomes after the Portuguese international suffered a hamstring injury in last Monday’s 1-1 home draw against Crystal Palace.

Allan (knock) is a doubt as Jordan Pickford (abdominal muscle), Fabian Delph (tendon), Abdoulaye Doucoure (foot) and Bernard (unspecified) remains absent.

Stat Attack

  • Brighton have claimed seven points from seven Premier League meetings against Everton (W2, D1, L4), with all seven points coming at the AMEX Stadium.
  • Everton have won just one of their last five top flight trips to Brighton (W1, D1, L3).
  • Brighton have scored first in their last two home matches (W1, L1).
  • Two of Everton’s last three away goals have come from Richarlison.
  • Brighton are unbeaten in two home games across all competitions refereed by Darren England this season (W1, D1).

Prediction

Brighton might feel unlucky to have suffered defeat at Old Trafford last weekend but they were responsible for their own downfall from a goal up, having wasted several opportunities through messy finishing and rash decisions so a more polished performance should be the aim here.

Everton meanwhile will be relieved to take a point at home to Crystal Palace last Monday but they continue to lack proper end product to several chances, which cost them a win last time out so will definitely need to improve quickly if want to keep pace with top four battle.

Finishing opportunities therefore feels likely to be key to this game given the quality up front for both teams, which should hopefully result in a close contest so I am going for a score draw but Brighton should have enough in them to find a win given their home form against Everton.

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Everton
