Wales face Switzerland on Day 2 of Euro 2020

Wales and Switzerland go head-to-head in today’s first game at Euro 2020. We’ve got everything you need to know…

Euro 2020 – Looking ahead to Day 2

While Italy were cruising past Turkey on Friday, Wales and Switzerland would have been keeping a close eye on their rivals in Group A. Today, at the Baku Olympic Stadium at 2pm (UK), Wales and Switzerland will both be looking to kick-off their campaigns with three points. Of course, Wales will take confidence from their performance at Euro 2016, but the Swiss are always tough opponents at major tournaments.

Later on today, Group B begins with Denmark against Finland at the Parken Stadium at 5pm (UK). Then Belgium will conclude the day’s action by taking on Russia at the Krestovsky Stadium (8pm).

If you want to see the full schedule along with the venues and kick-off times, then make sure you take a look at our Fixture List.

Players to Watch

Connor Roberts (Wales)

Indefatigable Swansea City full-back or wing-back with obvious hyperactive tendencies and a happy knack of scoring goals at vital times. Little wonder he is so popular at the Liberty Stadium; he is a local lad, a lifelong Swans supporter and plays with a smile on his face. Relaxes off the pitch in his carpentry workshop.

Nico Elvedi (Switzerland)

Fast-improving Monchengladbach central defender who has reportedly caught the eye of Bayern Munich. Quick over the ground, resilient and precise in his distribution. With Gladbach since 2015, joining them from FC Zurich.
