Speaking to AS ahead of Villarreal’s trip to the Spanish capital to take on Real Madrid, head coach Unai Emery admits that he hopes his team can put in their best performance against “a great Madrid”.
“We’re coming into a game in which we can change things against a great side. We’ve been competing against great teams and now we’re up against a great Madrid side, they’re on a good run with some very good players. [Karim] Benzema stands out.
“They also have a great squad in which any player can stand out, just look at the case of [Marco] Asensio the other day. They’re coming off the back of a 6-1 win and a 5-2 win, and that’s something that challenges us and motivates us to see how well we can do against them.”
