Two first-half goals hand Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 win over Baroka FC – SABC News

Kaizer Chiefs registered a hard fought 2-1 win over Baroka F.C in their first DSTV Premiership match at home.

Chiefs started brightly with an early goal from Zimbabwean Khama Billiat. Defender Daniel Cardoso doubled the lead for Amakhosi in the 27th minute. Both sides missed a lot of scoring opportunities and Chiefs led 2-nil at half-time.

Defender Denwin Farmer reduced the deficit for Baroka in the second half, but Chiefs managed to hold on.

Meanwhile Maritzburg United suffered a 2-nil defeat at home to newcomers Sekhukhune United.

Cape Town City registered a 2-1 win on the road to Royal AM.

Stellenbosch FC beat TS Galaxy 1-nil at home.

The match between Amazulu FC and Swallows FC played in Durban ended in a goalless draw.
