Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for a reported Arsenal and Liverpool target, it seems.

According to Le10 Sport in France, Spurs have thrown their hat in the ring to try and sign Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, who won a Ligue 1 title this past season.

Tottenham have some excellent options in the middle of the park, but also some deadwood in the form of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and potentially Eric Dier, a midfielder by trade despite former manager Jose Mourinho using him as a centre-back over the past 18 months.

And the French outlet has claimed that the Lilywhites are joining Arsenal in the race to sign the 23-year-old, who dazzled for Portugal at Euro 2020.

The report adds that the Gunners have prioritised Houssem Aouar and Eduardo Camavinga over Sanches, which could be a boost for Spurs.

Good news?

It’s a positive thing if the Emirates Stadium club are out of the frame.

That’s because Sanches has teased about a move to Arsenal in recent weeks.

On Instagram, the player claimed in June that he was ‘waiting for an invitation‘ to sign for Mikel Arteta’s side in response to a post from Gabriel Magalhaes, calling on him to make the move.

Then again, even if Arsenal aren’t in contention, Tottenham may still have Liverpool to worry about.

According to L’Equipe, the Reds are ‘very interested’ in bringing Sanches to Anfield and with Jurgen Klopp’s side boasting Champions League football next season, he may well favour a switch to Merseyside over North London.
