According to football journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to the potential signing of Isaiah Jones instead of Djed Spence in the summer transfer window.

Jones was speaking on the latest episode of Touchline Talk, amid rumours linking Spurs to Spence.

However, the Lilywhites have their eyes on another Middlesbrough ace in Isaiah Jones, who has shown some promising form this season for the Championship outfit.

The 22-year-old has been able to find the back of the net once in the Championship and has provided nine assists across the campaign (via Transfermarkt).

Jones has predominantly played at right wing-back this season and proved a real threat in the game against Spurs in the FA Cup last week.

And speaking on the future of Spence with interest coming from all around Europe, the journalist had the following to say on Spurs’ interest in Jones:

“Tottenham, they definitely have been interested in [Spence]. I’m told they actually have more interest in Isaiah Jones at the moment, who’s also a Middlesbrough player.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

We think it is quite interesting the 22-year-old has become the pick of the two Middlesbrough players for the Lilywhites, with Spence receiving reported interest from the likes of Bayern Munich amid his performances for Nottingham Forest.

However, when looking at Jones’ numbers, he has had a more impressive season in terms of providing assists from his wide position in the Championship.

Jones has been able to grab six more assists for Boro this season than Spence, who has spent the season out on loan at the City Ground.

And with the Lilywhites believed to be open to the sale of Emerson Royal in the summer, could Jones be the future for Tottenham’s right side?
