The Portland Timbers will take on the San Jose Earthquakes tonight, May 18, at PayPal Park; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). The match will feature a local television broadcast on FOX 12 PLUS and radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
Tonight’s match marks the 30th regular season meeting between Portland and San Jose, and the first of the 2022 campaign. The Timbers hold a 15-5-9 record over the Earthquakes and 4-5-5 when playing at PayPal Park. Notably, the Timbers are undefeated in their last seven matches against the Earthquakes (5-0-2) dating back to Oct. 6, 2019. In the 2021 campaign, Portland earned two victories and a draw against San Jose (2-0-1), scoring five goals and keeping two clean sheets. This season, nine different players have scored a goal for the Timbers and at least six have scored two or more (Y. Chara, Niezgoda, Tuiloma, Asprilla, Blanco, Fogaça).
