Chelsea have confirmed and are set to be confirming a number of new departures last week and over the next week or so.
Some of them have been sold on permanent deals such as Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, however, most of them are being confirmed as loan deals only, such as Michy Batshuayi, Kenedy, and soon to be Emerson Palmieri in recent days.

If you look around, you can see that the effects from the pandemic are still clearly having a negative play for selling clubs, with many out there still struggling financially after not having fans in stadiums for so long.
So with Chelsea, perhaps loan deals are the easiest option and of course, they have their pros and their cons.
Loaning these players mean that Chelsea are just putting off a problem, we could end up seeing Emerson, Kenedy, Bakayoko, Emerson, amongst others, all back at Cobham this time next summer having the same conversation and looking for buyers.
This is not an ideal situation at all, we just need to get many of these deadwood players off the books now. However, loaning them out has many benefits also.
First of all, Emerson and Kenedy both have option to buy clauses in their loan moves, meaning if all goes well we will scoop up almost £20m for them next summer.
Option to buy for Emerson Palmieri to Lyon is reportedly around £13m.
Option to buy for Kenedy to Flamengo is reportedly around £8.5m.https://t.co/EJvUpXN6BL pic.twitter.com/stSSVsJSVo

Then there are the players wages, quite often a club will agree to pay part, or even all of the players wages when they take them on loan, so at least that is getting them off our bill.
Finally, there is always a loan fee, which sometimes can fetch £1million plus for some players, which again, is money coming in the door.
So although I get the frustrations of always having these players coming back every summer, there are some great benefits to just loaning them out even though I’d much prefer to sell them.
