Teams that play Liberty in Sogakope lose to WAFA – naked Kotoko must be wary – Ghana Sports Online

Asante Kotoko go into Saturday afternoon’s Ghana Premier League clash against WAFA with only one thing on their minds – topple Hearts from the summit of the table.

But, Mariano Barreto’s side are sitting ducks, naked and targetable by WAFA who have beaten all teams played by Liberty Professionals at the WAFA Arena except Elmina Sharks.

Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum had the shrewd benefit of watching the Porcupine Warriors in action for 90 minutes as they held Liberty Professionals to a 1-1 draw on matchday 25.

The WAFA technical team had the benefit of observing the strength and weakness of the Kotoko team for the entire period of the game while Ogum also had the chance to assess and analyse the system of Mariano Barreto.

This season’s league fixtures is scheduled in a that any team that plays against Liberty Professionals face WAFA in their following fixture.

The Scientific Soccer Lads’ recent home games have been honoured at the WAFA Arena due to a revoking of their club license by the Ghana FA.

Since moving to the venue Nana Andy Sinason’s have played against Elmina Sharks, Berekum Chelsea and Medeama SC. The nature of the calendar and fixtures meant these clubs had to face WAFA in their subsequent fixtures.

Among these three clubs it is only Elmina Sharks who were able to apply the brakes on the Academy Boys. After Liberty hammered them 4-0 the Sharks pipped WAFA 1-0 at the Nduom Sports Complex. Berekum Chelsea slipped to a 2-0 loss against Liberty at the same venue and found themselves losing 3-2 to WAFA at the Golden City Park in Berekum. The next victim was Medeama SC who drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals but found themselves succumbing to a 2-1 loss to WAFA at the Akoon Park.

Winning against WAFA is a priority for Kotoko but they have to go into the game with this fact at the back of their mind and also note that WAFA have won 4 of their last 5 games in the league – scoring 9 goals in the process.
