BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Mateo Retegui and Julian Malatini scored either side of halftime as Talleres Cordoba secured a 2-1 away win over Union Santa Fe in Argentina’s Primera Division on Sunday.

Juan Garcia pulled a late goal back for the hosts but were unable to prevent Talleres from securing their third straight victory.

Alexander Medina’s men now have 13 points from seven matches, just two points shy of leaders Independiente. Union, meanwhile, have just six points from seven outings so far.

In Rosario, Nicolas Castro canceled out Damian Martinez’s opener as Newell’s Old Boys earned a 1-1 home draw with local rivals Rosario Central.

And in Buenos Aires, an early Nicolas Reniero strike gave Argentinos Juniors a 1-0 win at San Lorenzo.
