Strong possibility Aston Villa signs the midfielder

Philippe Coutinho has already been the talk of the town ever since he has joined forces with Aston Villa on loan from FC Barcelona.

The Brazilian also got reunited with former Liverpool FC legend, Steven Gerrard — who was said to be the torchbearer in convincing Coutinho to ply his trade at Villa Park.

Following a flying start to his life in Birmingham, reports suggest there could be a deal on the table to sign the 29-year-old midfielder permanently for a fee said to be less than £33 million in the summer.

The Catalan giants, in 2018, signed Coutinho from Liverpool for a hefty transfer fee of £142 million. Sadly, he struggled throughout his time at the Camp Nou and ended up netting 17 goals in 76 appearances.

The 2019-20 season saw a better return and turned out to be a more fruitful one as he joined Bayern Munich on loan. There he ended by etching his name on the DFB-Pokal and Champions League titles.

Philippe Coutinho enjoying his return to the Premier League

Even with a salary cut i.e., £150,000-a-week wages, Coutinho seems very ambitious on his Premier League return. He has already scored and assisted twice in his four appearances for Villa so far.

When asking Aston Villa’s boss Steven Gerrard about his opinion on the deal, he solely quoted.

There’s a lot of football to be played and he’s only just arrived. The main focus for me, the player and everyone around him is to just keep him in this place, let’s enjoy him and let’s keep contributing to the team.

Fans, as well as a few football pundits, hope to see Aston Villa conclude the deal by signing Coutinho permanently. And the same is just a matter of time.

Aston Villa could reportedly end up signing the Brazillian for less than £33 million in the summer if all goes well. Coutinho needs a rebirth as he hits 30 and this could be the start of something great.
