Some Liverpool fans are calling on their club to step up their interest in Jude Bellingham, after the youngster’s comments about Steven Gerrard.

According to Eurosport, Liverpool are interested in signing the £100 million-rated Borussia Dortmund teenager.

Bellingham is on international duty with England’s senior side at Euro 2020 right now.

And when asked if he could have an England shirt of any legendary player from the past, the 17-year-old claimed that he loves ‘Stevie G’.

Bellingham said: “Stevie G, easily to be fair. Actually it’s not easy, him or Rooney would be close, but it’s those two by quite a way. I think I’d go Gerrard though because of the number eight, similar position to me, so I’d probably go with him. I love Stevie G to be fair.”

Here’s how some Liverpool fans responded to the player’s comments:

Realistic?

Liverpool fans would obviously love Bellingham and what’s not to love?

The teenager is a frightening talent after dazzling in the Champions League against Manchester City this past season and it’s clear he has a stupidly-bright future.

That being said, being English and extremely promising, Bellingham’s value of £100 million makes it ever so difficult for Liverpool to complete a deal.

Remember, this summer is supposed to be limiting financially for the Reds – who have spent £36 million on Ibrahima Konate already – and it’s hard to see this one coming off.

It’s true that Jurgen Klopp badly needs a midfielder after losing Georginio Wijnaldum, but will it be Bellingham who replaces the Dutchman? Probably not.
