Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Edu has submitted a €20 million bid for Joaquín Correa, according to Il Messaggero.

What’s the story?

Well, the €20 million bid – which equates to £17 million – doesn’t sound like it’ll be good enough to satisfy Lazio.

The Serie A outfit – who recently hired Maurizio Sarri – are hoping to receive €30 million (£26 million) for their No.11.

However, it sounds like a deal could potentially be on, as Correa himself has admitted his desire to play in England one day, and also learn English.

According to Solo La Lazio, the South American’s agent has actually met with Arsenal, so this link could have legs.

Having said that, Correa’s representatives also spoke to Everton.

If the Toffees meet Lazio’s asking price, then it will be interesting to see if Arsenal respond, or simply walk away from the deal.

What do the Arsenal fans think?

Well, a couple of supporters below seem to think that Il Messaggero’s update spells bad news for Alexandre Lacazette.

In our view, they could have a point.

Mikel Arteta didn’t buy Lacazette himself, and according to the Telegraph, the Gunners are preparing to sell the Frenchman this summer.

In that respect, perhaps the north Londoners are looking to take a different approach in attack by swapping their No.9 with a nippier option.

It certainly wouldn’t be a like-for-like swap. Correa is much quicker and sharper, and can also operate out wide.

In Lacazette’s case, he’s more of an out-and-out No.9 who roams centrally more often than not – Arteta could have a plan up his sleeve.
