Simon Jordan reckons Ange Postecoglou could take advantage of “suppressed expectation” at Celtic.
The pundit delivered a damning verdict on the new Parkhead boss’ appointment last week but has tempered that view by suggesting he has an early opportunity to turn the tide.
Celtic take on champions Rangers in the fourth game of the Premiership season and Jordan has pinpointed it as the moment Postecoglou could really announce his arrival.
He points out it wasn’t so long ago Steven Gerrard’s side were being written off as Celtic seemingly marched to an inevitable 10 In A Row
Jordan told talkSPORT: “This guy will come into Celtic with two things. A, a suppressed expectation. I know that’s difficult to believe because Celtic fans will demand success but they will be underwhelmed by this appointment so he’s got a little bit of latitude.
“He’s got Rangers in the fourth game of the season, if he can start with a decent result against Rangers then Celtic may just start motoring in a different way than people expect.
“I’m optimistic for him despite the fact I made a facetious comment which involved comparing his managerial career with the dizzy heights of someone replacing him at Brisbane Roar, being Robbie Fowler.
“But I do think this guy might just have the chops to get into the ribs of Celtic because it wasn’t 18 months ago when Rangers were being looked at this way.”
