BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — River Plate climbed to fifth in Argentina’s Primera Division standings on Sunday with a 3-0 home victory over Central Cordoba.

Pablo Solari and Colombian striker Miguel Borja netted first-half goals before Bruno Zuculini completed the rout with a 67th-minute strike.

River, who is unbeaten in four league matches, now has 25 points from 15 outings, four points fewer than leader Atletico Tucuman. Central Cordoba is 19th in the 28-team standings with 17 points.

Meanwhile, a 92nd-minute strike from Luis Vazquez fired Boca Juniors to a 1-0 away win over Defensa y Justicia.

Vazquez calmly slotted home the winner by angling a shot past goalkeeper Ezequiel Unsain following a mazy run and perfectly weighted pass from Sebastian Villa.

The result leaves Boca eighth with 23 points while Defensa y Justicia is 23rd, eight points further back.

In other Argentine top-flight fixtures on Sunday, Independiente drew 1-1 at Godoy Cruz and Lanus won 1-0 at home to Arsenal Sarandi.
