BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Second-half goals from Enzo Fernandez and Braian Romero gave River Plate a 2-0 home win over Velez Sarsfield in Argentina’s Primera Division on Saturday.

Fernandez converted from the penalty spot after Milton Casco was brought down by Francisco Ortega.

Romero doubled the lead in the first minute of stoppage time with a low shot into the bottom right corner following Fernandez’s headed flick.

The result lifted River to third in the 26-team standings with 10 points from six matches while Velez remained second-last with just three points so far.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Argentinos Juniors won 2-0 at home to Banfield and Atletico Tucuman were held to a 2-2 home draw by Aldosivi.
