After finishing fifth last season and securing Europa League football, Real Sociedad were given a tough start to the new campaign, kicking off La Liga away to Barcelona. Real Sociedad have bounced back from that 4-2 defeat with three straight league victories, scoring four goals and keeping three clean sheets. Their defence was breached in midweek in the Europa League, but Real Sociedad will have no complaints about their 2-2 draw with PSV.
Although they are below Real Sociedad in the table, Sevilla remain unbeaten in La Liga, one of seven sides yet to taste defeat in Spain’s top flight. The Andalusian side have won two and drawn one of their three games so far, beating Rayo Vallecano and Getafe before being held by Elche going into the international break. But Sevilla then went over two weeks without a competitive game as their match against Barcelona was postponed. Sevilla did return to action in midweek, drawing 1-1 with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

Player to watch: Youssef En-Nesyri (Sevilla)
Sevilla’s draw with Red Bull Salzburg in midweek was a thriller, with four penalties awarded, two scored (one per side) and two missed (both by Salzburg), and one red card.
That red card was shown to Youssef En-Nesyri for two yellows, the second coming for a dive inside the Salzburg area, giving the Moroccan a reason to try to redeem himself this weekend. And there couldn’t be a better opponent for him.
En-Nesyri has scored more goals against Real Sociedad in La Liga than he has against any other side, netting six times in eight matches. Four of those came last season, including a hat-trick in a 3-2 win for Sevilla in the home fixture, while he also netted the winner in the return game.
