Real Madrid want to sign a forward and have identified Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as targets, yet two years ago the Norwegian was not necessarily at the top of Los Blancos‘ wish list.
On August 7, 2019, Haaland played against Real Madrid in a friendly for Red Bull Salzburg, although the main focus was on new Los Blancos signing Eden Hazard.
Haaland didn’t make too much of an impression, but two years later he is a player every club in the world wants.
The goals just never stopped after he arrived in Salzburg, scoring 11 goals in six matches and making his Champions League debut against Genk, scoring a hat-trick.
Haaland scored eight goals in the group phase of that Champions League and was briskly signed by Borussia Dortmund, which was an investment which paid off immediately for the German giants.
He scored seven goals in his first three matches with the Bundesliga club before adding a brace against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Haaland‘s 40 goals in 2019/20 put him into the Galactico sphere and, aged just 21, he is now valued at 130 million euros by Transfermarkt.
