Real Madrid players expect the club to complete the signing of Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer when his contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season, according to The Telegraph.
The 28-year-old defender went through a period of resurrection since Thomas Tuchel took charge of Chelsea at the start of the year and played a huge part in their Champions League success last season, but he still doesn’t seem willing to extend his commitment and remain at Stamford Bridge past next summer.
Real Madrid parted ways with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane six months ago, and even though they signed David Alaba from Bayern Munich straight away, it seems they need another experienced centre-back.
As for Chelsea, they are close to agreeing a new deal for Thiago Silva, and they apparently remain interested in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde after they failed to reach an agreement with the La Liga side this summer.
