The latest Seville derby pits two in-form teams together at the Benito Villamarin, with Real Betis hosting Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday at 8pm (UK time).
Manuel Pellegrini’s Verdiblancos are up in fifth and knocking on the Champions League door during these embryonic stages of 2021/22, but they enter this fierce derby winless in their last five matches against Sevilla. Julen Lopetegui’s men are third having collected 24 points after their first 11 games in La Liga this season, their second-highest points tally at this stage of the competition.

Real Betis vs Sevilla previous line-ups & injury news:
- Real Betis (vs Bayer Leverkusen): Silva; Bellerin, Bartra, Ruiz, Miranda; Rodriguez, Carvalho; Joaquin, Fekir, Ruibal; Iglesias.
- Sevilla (vs Lille): Bono; Navas*, Kounde, Carlos, Acuna; Fernando, Delaney, Suso, Oliver, Ocampos; Mir.
Nabil Fekir was sent off in the 4-0 Europa League loss to Leverkusen on Thursday night but, of course, he suspension only applies to the continental competition, meaning he can slot back in here. Betis, though, do remain without Youssouf Sabaly and Victor Camarasa. Sevilla meanwhile are set to miss Jesus Navas for the remainder of 2021 after the versatile skipper sustained an injury against Lille. He is joined by Papu Gomez on the sidelines.
Pellegrini: These are bumps that all teams have in the season
It was a chastening reality check for Betis on Thursday night as the Spaniards endured a 4-0 reversal at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, but Pellegrini will be determined to ensure that his side’s lacklustre showing in Germany earlier this week does not extend to La Liga.
Betis are flying high at the minute domestically and could move into the top four by the end of the weekend if results work in their favour, and for Pellegrini in particular, the Chilean has suffered just one defeat in nine La Liga home matches against Sevilla across his career, so the emphasis to bounce back is huge.
“We did not have a good performance, either defensively or offensively,” Pellegrini told reporters in his post-match press conference against Leverkusen.
“In general it was another bad game for us. Bayer were on a losing streak and beat us.
“It was a poor performance that must be analysed and a solution found. Football changes game by game.
“We remain second in the group. These are bumps that all teams have in the season.”
