Rangers-daft X-Factor star James Arthur admitting to considering doing a cover of Simply The Best because of incredible fan demand.

The ‘Train Wreck’ singer is a lifelong supporter of Rangers due to his Glaswegian dad being a club die-hard.

The Middlesbrough musician told The Sun: “Everybody was requesting me to do a cover of Simply The Best which I’ve yet to do. I’m still figuring out what the best version is.

“I feel like it could do quite well. The Rangers fans get behind me any time I put out any public support for the club and they’re always very positive.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist greets 2012 X-Factor winner James Arthur.

“It’s a risky thing to do being a public figure and artist in the spotlight to pledge allegiance to either side of the city.

“James Bay is a mate and he once innocently played a cover of Simply The Best and got booed.

“I’m by no means in the business of antagonising anyone but I think it would be fun. I’d do it in the right and tasteful way.”

James even revealed when writing his latest album, It’ll All Make Sense In The End, seeing his team perform so well was a good mood booster when it came to writing.

The singer adds: “When I was writing the album Rangers were flying at that point and it definitely put me in a good mood.

“We deserve it. We’ve been in the doldrums for a while. Steven Gerrard has revolutionised the club and done an amazing job.

“It’s good seeing my dad happy, he’s chuffed at the moment that they’re winning games and look like they’re going to do well this season as well.

“Football is my life. I’m consumed by it and being a follower of Rangers and Middlesbrough, and with Rangers especially doing well, it definitely puts you in a good mood.”

After the last year and a half of being stuck inside, James is buzzing to get back on the road, especially to come to Glasgow on his 2022 tour.

He said: “I’m ready now and have had enough of sitting on the couch so I’m ready to get out there and March can’t come soon enough.

“I’ve got loads of family in Glasgow so it’s always a celebration when I come and the crowds there are always, without fail, bonkers every time.”

James’ new album, It’ll All Make Sense In The End, is out now and the musician will be playing Glasgow SEC Armadillo for March 27, 2022.
