A MAN who allegedly recorded himself entering Rangers’ Ibrox Stadium and spitting on to the pitch will now stand trial in the New Year.

Joseph Mulherron, 50, is accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner in May last year.

It is claimed he climbed over a secure gate at the stadium, discarded a flag and repeatedly spat on the pitch.

The breach of the peace charge goes on to say Mulherron swore and uttered offensive remarks while recording the incident on an electronic device.

It is said the footage was uploaded to social media and the clip was made available for public viewing.

Mulherron faces a separate allegation of breaching coronavirus regulations by leaving his place of residence without a reasonable excuse during lockdown.

Mulherron had been due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He had previous pled not guilty to the accusations.

But, the case was once again postponed and he will now stand trial next February.

Mulherron, of the city’s Govan, remains on bail meantime.
