BOGOTA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) — Colombia head coach Reinaldo Rueda has included playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero and striker Miguel Borja in his squad for a friendly against Honduras later this month.
The match will be played at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 16.
Borja was one of five Junior Barranquilla players included in the Cafeteros’ 20-man squad, joining Daniel Giraldo, Freddy Hinestroza, German Mera and Homer Martinez.
Quintero is currently without a club after leaving Chinese Super League outfit Shenzhen FC last week. It has been widely reported in local media that the 28-year-old is close to rejoining his former club River Plate.
Rueda was unable to select players based in Europe because the match does not fall on an official FIFA date.
Colombia will use the friendly to prepare for the next double-header of South American World Cup qualifiers. The Cafeteros will meet Peru in Barranquilla on January 28 and Argentina in Buenos Aires four days later.
