Perak FC pledge to pay players’ wages by Monday

IPOH, March 3 — Perak FC have assured that they will settle their players’ salary arrears by Monday (March 7).

This assurance was given by Perak FC chief executive officer Muhammad Yunus Zakariah after being informed by the team management that the last two months’ wages would be paid out by March 7 as stated in their contracts.

“This is following reports of players not getting paid being discussed on social media. The club also plan to resolve all arrears or at least the first month’s payment.

“Meanwhile, the salaries of former import players will be paid out before the end of April as guaranteed previously,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Perak Football Association (PAFA) vice-president Datuk Seri G. Irudianathan said that part of the RM1.7 million in salary arrears owed to players previously had been settled while the balance would be paid out after the first game on Saturday (March 5).

“The players’ wages, about 70 to 75 per cent, we have settled and there is a possibility that we will pay off the balance after the coming match. The players’ wages (that have not been settled) is believed to be between RM500,000 and RM600,000,” he said.

After being relegated from the Super League, Perak FC will compete with nine other teams in the second-tier Premier League. Their opening match is against Kelantan United at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Saturday.
