Orlando Pirates coach left frustrated with Bucs attackers!

Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids expressed his disappointment in his side’s inability to bury their chances against Maritzburg United this afternoon.

Orlando Pirates played out to a disappointing goalless against a 10-men Maritzburg United side in the DStv Premiership at the Harry Gwala Stadium earlier today.

The draw means the Buccaneers have now gone four matches without a victory while scoring just once in their last four matches leaving Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi with much to think about in terms of attack.

Orlando Pirates have to learn how to take their chances – Davids

“Quite disappointing in the first half not to take advantage of the opportunities we created,” Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids told SuperSport TV following the match.

“Of course, on the other hand you have to give credit to the opponent for their defensive display. Yes, they never had a shot on target or disturbed our goalkeeper, but then it falls on us to be able to unlock the defensive line.

“Of course with them playing four centre-backs, they changed to the second half with five at the back you need to be creative and unlock the defensive block you are presented with. Orlando Pirates tried to go through the centre, not possible. We tried to go with extreme width. Not really possible. And very unfortunate not to get the goal to unlock the game.”

We can’t cry over our missing players – Davids

“We don’t really want to complain about our players that are not available. We want to put the trust in the players that are available. Of course the line-ups are changing because of CAF last week. Players not registered, joining us too late. And now yes you make a lot of changes. It’s about juggling the squad. Not crying about players not here and really putting trust in the players to produce results.” the Orlando Pirates coach added.

The Buccaneers next turn their attention to to Diables Noirs who they host in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash on Saturday afternoon. Orlando Pirates played out to a goalless draw in their away leg last weekend.
