ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City SC has acquired defender Brandon Hackenberg via short-term loan from Orlando City B, it was announced today. Hackenberg will be available for the Club’s MLS regular-season match at CF Montréal this Saturday, May 7 and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Philadelphia Union in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, May 10.
The 22-year-old was selected 22nd overall by the Lions in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft out of Penn State University, electing to return to finish his senior season in college and joined City in preseason of 2022. The defender signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract with Orlando City B on March 24 of this year.
Hackenberg has appeared in all five matches for Orlando City B in MLS NEXT Pro action this campaign, earning his debut in the side’s season opener against Chicago Fire FC II and helping the side to a clean sheet in a 2-0 shutout victory.
