FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its 2021 MLS NEXT Fall season with the Under-15s and Under-17s both hosting the Philadelphia Union Academy on Saturday at the Revolution Training Center. New England dropped both matches, a 2-1 defeat for the U-17s and a 3-1 loss for the U-15s. The Under-19s and Under-14s both were idle over the weekend.
Revolution II fell on Friday afternoon, 1-0, at Toronto FC II in USL League One play. Current Academy midfielder Esmir Bajraktarevic earned a start, his fourth of the season. Five Revolution Academy graduates also started the contest for New England – Justin Rennicks, Damian Rivera, Tyler Freitas, Colby Quiñones, and Noel Buck – while fellow Academy alum Hikaru Fujiwara came off the bench for a 28-minute shift.
On Saturday, New England’s U-15 and U-17 sides will have the upcoming weekend off as the U-19s and U-14s will host matches on Sunday in Walpole, with the former hosting Met Oval at 1:30 p.m. and the latter hosting Bayside FC at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Revolution II will travel to face Greenville Triumph SC on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Revolution MLS NEXT & Alumni Highlights
Forward Olger Escobar (2006 – Lynn, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the U-17s against Philadelphia Union. In five games this season, Escobar has three goals and two assists.
Forward Raphael Alves (2007 – Framingham, Mass.) tallied his fourth goal of the season for the U-15s, with defender Alvin Depina (2007- Boston, Mass.) picking up his first assist at the MLS NEXT level.
2021 Academy Graduate Aidan Farwell (2002 – Randolph, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal for Boston College last week in a 2-1 loss to Virginia.
