Nathan Patterson dropped by Scotland as Rangers star joins Celtic skipper on the bench

Rangers star Nathan Patterson has been dropped to the bench by Steve Clarke for the clash with Faroe Islands.

The Ibrox full back is joined on the bench by Celtic captain Callum McGregor, meaning there is no Old Firm players in the starting XI for Scotland.

Scotland take on Faroe Islands for the 11th time and have eight wins and two draws in their previous 10 games.

Victory for Scotland would edge them even closer to sealing second spot in the group and a playoff place for the Qatar World Cup next year.

While there is no Old Firm players in the starting lineup, there is five former Celtic and Rangers players there.

Craig Gordon starts in goal and is joined by Jack Hendry, Kieran Tierney, Ryan Christie and Billy Gilmour.
