The Moroccan National team defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 in a friendly match at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Saturday, making it the second consecutive win for the Atlas Lions in four days.
Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi gave Morocco the lead in the 51th minute with a free kick that he expertly converted. The score remained unchanged after that.
On Tuesday, the Atlas Lions met Ghana in another friendly match at the same stadium, with Morocco winning by the same result.
The encounter against Burkina Faso provided an opportunity for Moroccan National Team coach Vahid Halilhodzic to introduce players who had not played in the previous encounter against Ghana. It was also an opportunity for the Bosnian coach to revert to his 4-3-3 formation rather than the one he used last Tuesday.
Munir Mohamedi (Goalkeeper), Sofian Chakla (Central defender), and Achraf Lazaar (left back), Soufian Rahimi (Left wing) were all present from the start of Saturday’s game. Others, such as Samy Mmaee and Zakaria Aboukhlal, joined in the second half.
This was the Atlas Lion’s second friendly encounter against Burkina Faso under coach Vahid’s guidance. In reality, the Moroccan national team’s first match after the Bosnian coach took over in 2019 was against the same in Marrakech. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with the Moroccan Zouhair Feddal scoring the equalizer.
