GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – Minnesota United today announced the club will face Forward Madison in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. CT at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wis.
The last time MNUFC played Forward Madison was a 2-1 victory in 2019, when the USL League One side was an affiliate and the Loons traveled to Madison for a mid-season friendly on June 25.
The U.S. Open Cup was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the Loons made it all the way to the Cup Final, falling 2-1 to Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
