BUL football club were beaten 3-0 by Bright Stars at Kavumba recreation centre in the Uganda Premier League on Friday.
Ibrahim Kasinde scored in the first half for the home side before Joseph Janjali and Methodius Jjungu scored a goal each in the second half to seal the win for Bright Stars.
Teenage goalkeeper John Okurut made his senior debut, starting in goal for the Eastern Giants ahead of Emmanuel Kalyowa who was returning from injury.
The home side were off to a good start at Kavumba, dominating the chances. Ssemayange and Yasin Mugume came close in early minutes of the contest, while Emmanuel Loki had a chance three minutes after half an hour but neither could get the ball in the net.
They ultimately got into the lead on 38 minutes. Kasinde beat Okurut from the penalty mark with a low drive to the bottom right side of the net following a foul on Marvin Youngman in the box by Ibrahim Kazindula.
The Eastern Giants couldn’t provide a response in the second half as Simon Peter Mugerwa’s side doubled their advantage.
Janjali picked the ball with in 28 yards, he dropped a shoulder before dispatching a shot into the net from out side the box just four minutes after the restart.
Manager Alex Isabirye called on the fresh legs of Ibrahim Nsimbe and Richard Wandyaka, replacing Martin Aprem and Umar Mukobe in that order a minute to the hour.
Their combination with Simon Peter Oketch and Karim Ndugwa upfront put the host’s defense to test, with the Eastern Giants earning a free kick in the 61st minute but Kazindula’s effort sailed over the bar.
Four minutes later, Janjali forced a save from Okurut with a hard shot from distance, and in the 80th minute, substitute Jjungu tucked the ball beyond Walter Ochora and the goalkeeper to score the third goal for his side as Bright Stars stamped authority onto the game, condemning BUL FC to the fifth loss of the season.
Despite the defeat, the Eastern Giants remained fourth on the UPL table rankings with 33 points after 20 matches. Next in line will be a clash with Tooro United at Kyabazinga stadium next week on Friday.
