One of the biggest matches on the Uganda Premier League calendar will take place in Jinja city on Tuesday afternoon, as BUL Football Club welcome city neighbors Busoga United to Kyabazinga stadium for the Jinja derby.
As ever, the Eastern Giants will be glad to return to their backyard following their 3-1 defeat on their travels at KCCA FC last Wednesday, whilst their visitors as well have numerous concerns following another defeat themselves last time out.
Busoga United have a better record in their recent meetings with the Eastern Giants, however, BUL remain strong at home as they have lost only once from there this campaign and will aim to return to winning ways in front of their own fans.
Two of BUL’s four league victories this term have arrived at Kyabazinga stadium, and their slip in performance on their immediate last outing may force them to bounce back with a severe punishment to their neighbours.
Isabirye’s men find themselves in fifth place with 14 points ahead of their matchday 9, with Busoga United coming into this intriguing clash placed in a disappointing 12th rank on the table with seven points to their name.
This encounter will be their 11th league meeting since 2016.
Team News
BUL FC has few injuries to contend with, long-term absentees – Ambrose Kirya and Hamis Tibita will continue to watch the action from far with injuries. Jerome Kirya also misses out with an arm injury but Simon Peter Oketch may feature if passed fit for the game.

“This game is not going to be easy because players of both teams have been together for so long. They know each other in and out, and that is going to make tomorrow’s game so competitive.”
“But as BUL FC, we are still teaching our players how to win three points in a game and how to become competitive. However, I think we shall win the match.”

“We lost points in the first derby against Gaddafi FC but this time we are going for a win against Busoga United.”
“Our fans should come to support us in big numbers because victory is going to be on our side.”
Last time out
All didn’t go well as planned as the Eastern Giants succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to KCCA FC at Lugogo. Goals from Innocent Wafula, Charles Lwanga, and Davis Kasirye put the hosts on the march to victory with Musa Esenu striking the consolation for BUL.
Isabirye’s men were the better team in the opening period but unfortunately, they found themselves a goal down at the stroke of halftime as Wafula scored from range.
The introduction of Joseph Ssemujju gifted them a kick from the penalty mark after he was fouled in the forbidden area, however, he skewed his penalty kick above the goal confines.
Lwanga later caught BUL FC rearguards off guard with a solo run in the 77th minute to extend KCCA’s lead. And just three minutes from then, Kasirye rounded off the scoring with a tap in from inside six yards to seal their win.
Musa Esenu however pulled one back with seven minutes to play but it was too late for a comeback.

Busoga United ran to a slim 1-0 victory at Kyabazinga Stadium last season.
Fleet footed winger – Ivan Wani, who is now in our ranks, scored the solitary goal in that well contested duel for Busoga.
His goal came in the 57th minute after the first half had ended goal-less.
The visitors however survived early attacks from the Eastern Giants, with goalkeeper Michael Nantamu saving their day.
