Very soon we will not be needing to write these articles, letting everyone know just how good Mason Mount is and defending him from his critics, who are very few and far between now.
I’ve written so many of these articles defending Mount and his ability, and trying understand why anyone could possibly not rate the guy. But there is now this sense that there will soon not even be one single soul who will not admit what a player Mount is, and his day one performance at his first major international tournament with England on Sunday, only emphasises that even more.

After winning the Champions League with Chelsea just a few weeks back, Mount looks hungry for more, and you just know that he will fully believe in his head that he will now win the Euros with England this summer; THAT is the kind of mentality he has. He is wired to win trophies, and the belief he has in his own ability is incredible.
Mount announced himself on the big stage on Sunday and he was part of England’s midfield three, a triangle of players who absolutely bossed Croatia, who are no slouches in midfield themselves.
The Chelsea midfielder was playing with swagger, full of confidence, and he looked like a player who just won the Champions League in domestic football.
Every manager loves him, fans love him, pundits love him, and now, he will become England’s lion heart.
His improvement this season has been nothing short of vertically upwards and at a rapid pace. He is now the all-round midfielder that EVERY manager wants in their team. He has improved in the final third, which he needed to do, but his overall game and team play is just amazing.
Stepping up and performing for England after the season he has had with Chelsea really is the icing on the cake.
Rest in peace, Mount haters.
