Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Christian Eriksen at Brentford ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Christian Eriksen, 30, signed a six-month contract with Brentford in January, bouncing back from a cardiac arrest at the European Championships last summer to prove himself again in the Premier League. The Dane played a crucial role in the Bees’ shock 4-1 win over west London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, demonstrating that he’s still got the ability to cut the mustard at the highest level.
Along with Manchester United, Tottenham are also monitoring the 30-year-old’s situation. Antonio Conte, who signed Eriksen for Inter Milan, is now at the helm of Tottenham, where the player spent six and a half years and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the English top flight.
However, Brentford boss Thomas Frank remains hopeful of Eriksen signing a contract extension, but the lure of challenging for trophies again could be difficult for the player to turn down.
Erik ten Hag heavily tipped to become the new Man United boss
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is widely expected to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United, with talks now at an advanced stage.
The Dutchman’s camp are set for a second round of talks in London with Man United later this week. It is understood that Ten Hag is already putting plans in place should the Red Devils appoint him, and he wants to take Robin van Persie, who is currently taking his coaching badges and working with the Under-16s team in the Feyenoord Academy, back to Old Trafford with him.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino also remains in the frame for the vacant job, but Ten Hag is believed to be pulling the most support within the club.

If Ten Hag lands the Man United job, Christian Eriksen could be a good fit in his system.
The likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are out of contract at the end of the season and both are expected to leave Old Trafford, while Donny Van de Beek’s future at the club looks uncertain.
A player like Eriksen could make a big difference at Man United, whilst filling the gap Pogba will be leaving behind in the squad. The Dane is a vastly experienced player and would add creativity to the Red Devils’ attack. He can play in multiple roles across the midfield and attack, and such flexibility coupled with his vision, passing range and experience, could benefit Man United a lot.
At 30, Eriksen still has a few years left at the highest level. The Denmark international has made a strong return to professional football, and his signing on a potential free transfer in the summer will be logical for Man United, who will look to rebuild under the new manager after another trophyless season.
