France continued their domination of international football on Sunday, as Didier Deschamps’ side beat Spain to lift the Nations League trophy for the first time.

The success follows their 2018 World Cup triumph, and reiterated Les Bleus’ place as arguably the best team in world football.

The reigning world champions had fallen behind to Mikel Oyarzabal’s opener at the San Siro, but Karim Benzema’s superb striker levelled things up shortly after, before Kylian Mbappe’s controversial late goal gave the French victory.

Ahead of kick-off, there was a lot of talk around Luis Enrique’s starting line up, with 17-year-old midfielder Gavi starting despite having made his international debut just four days earlier.

The youngster, who has only made seven senior club appearances for Barcelona, had impressed against Italy and played 75 minutes in the final, before being substituted for Koke.

However, it is a young midfielder on the other side that is now making headlines.

According to The Express, Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni is being chased by a number of top European clubs.

The report suggests that the midfielder, who starred in France’s victory over Spain, is wanted by Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United.

The 21-year-old impressed alongside Paul Pogba in midfield on Sunday, and the Manchester United star was full of praise for the man who could soon become his club teammate.

“Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man,” Pogba told RTL.

“It’s a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical ability.

“We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side.”

Tchouameni got his first taste of international glory on Sunday

The Monaco star was linked with United in the summer, but a move never materialised, however it appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are once again interested in the player.

The former Bordeaux man is considered among the top talents in France, and will undoubtedly be the subject of many offers in January.

He could be the perfect fit for Solskjaer’s side, as the Norwegian is still searching for a midfielder to add balance to his side and replace Fred.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have had to deal with N’Golo Kante’s injury problems in recent months and new loan signing Saul Niguez has been below par on the two occasions that he has started.

With Tchouameni’s progress showing no signs of slowing down, the Frenchman could spark a battle for his signature in January.
