Manchester City see off Brugge

Manchester City and Club Brugge faced off in a Champions League tie on Tuesday evening.

City headed into the match looking to bounce back from their 2-0 loss at the hands of PSG in their previous Champions League tie.

The Sky Blues did exactly this, picking up a 5-1 in to move up to 2nd in their group.

An otherwise positive experience for Manchester City has since sadly taken a turn for the worse.

As reported by The Guardian on Wednesday, a Belgian Manchester City fan is in intensive care after being attacked, apparently by fans of Club Brugge, after the Sky Blues’ win at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday.

The victim is said to be a 63-year-old man from Ninove. Five arrests are also said to have been made.

Both Manchester City and Club Brugge have since release statements on the incident:

“Everyone at Manchester City is shocked and saddened to hear reports of an attack on one of our supporters after the Champions League game in Bruges last night. We are currently working with our counterparts at Club Brugge as well as Belgian and Greater Manchester Police to establish more information. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the family and friends of the Belgian based supporter, who remains in hospital.”
