Harry Kane’s audacious volley clawed away by Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Buschan was not even the most ambitious thing the England captain has attempted this summer.
The 27-year-old defender’s outrageous effort, which won the corner that led to Jordan Henderson’s first ever goal for England, was an obvious sign the striker has confidence oozing through his veins.
Yet, the England striker’s biggest moment of ambition was not the 30-yard volley which would’ve clinched a memorable hattrick.
That gong goes to the England striker’s request of finalising a move out of Tottenham Hotspur before the start of Euro 2020 – he must have known that was never going to happen.
Yet nearly two months since he demanded a transfer, he is still no closer to leaving the capital and it is almost 100% likely any move, if any, will have to be finalised in the pre-season.
Yet, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City are already putting in contingency plans in case a move for Kane is impossible and Antoine Griezmann is reportedly the next name on their list of desired strikers.
The French striker had a very disappointing European Championships, scoring only one goal as France were knocked out of the tournament at the last of 16 stage on penalties by Switzerland.
It has not been all bad for Griezmann, as he did enjoy a relatively impressive season for Barcelona, finding the net on 20 occasions and also contributing to 13 assists.
However, his parent club Barcelona are enduring great financial issues and must allegedly have a dramatic clear up their wage bill if they are to be allowed to register new signings such as Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay.
If City are interested in bringing the former Atletico Madrid hit man and World Cup winner to the Etihad stadium ahead of Kane, then it could be a transfer which benefits all involved parties – except from Kane of course.
