Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists they would be crazy not to still be interested in Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho, when speaking in a pre match press conference this afternoon.
The Merseyside club made a late play for the Fulham winger, but didn’t manage to conclude the £8million deal ahead of the deadline.
Carvalho has scored seven goals in 16 league games in the Championship this season and if a deal had gone through, he would have remained at the promotion-chasing London club on loan until the end of the season even if the Reds had completed the deal.
The former Benfica youth player has been a big part of Marco Silva’s team this campaign, which sees Fulham riding high at the top of the Premier League.
But Klopp still hasn’t ruled out a move this summer.
“We are still interested – it would be crazy if we were not,” said Klopp.
“It was late, the window closed, it did not work out. We’ll see what happens.”
A potential transfer will hugely depend on whether or not Fulham can maintain their form and reach promotion back to the Premier League.
