Ange Postecoglou has hailed the way Liel Abada has taken his Celtic baptism of fire in his stride.
The 19-year-old hit a double in the Hoops’ 6-0 demolition of St Mirren and set up another as the hosts hit the summit of the Premiership table.
Postecoglou admits that circumstances meant he was forced to throw the teenage wide man in immediately after he arrived from Israel, which is something he would have normally avoided to allow him to bed in.
But Abada has relished the experience of pulling on the green and white, netting four goals and setting up another two in seven appearances.
“We threw him in, he’s only 19. I felt for him at the start,” Postecoglou told BBC Scotland.
“It’s not the way you want to introduce new recruits, young ones especially.

“But from the first game he’s had such a positive outlook and a positive intent during games.
“He’s been good for us all the way along and I know he’s been keen to get on the scoresheet so it’s great for him to do that tonight.
“And David [Turnbull] was outstanding again.”
The Celts were on easy street long before full-time which afforded Postecoglou the luxury of resting some of his stars ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League play-off round second leg against AZ Zalkmaar.
He explained: “It was great to take Cal [Callum McGregor] off, Kyogo, and give them a good spell.
“Tommy [Rogic] could have played today, absolutely, but he’s been outstanding for us, just to keep him ticking along.
“Our squad is quite healthy considering the programme and schedule we have, we’ve just got to try and get these guys through the next couple of games and hopefully get some more reinforcements in.”
As for any further transfer business, the Aussie remained tight-lipped.
“I’ve steered clear of that, I’ve let others handle that side.
“They haven’t come to me with any new information about outgoings as we speak, obviously we’ve got a little bit of time in the window.
“We’ll deal with those things when they arise.”
