Speaking in a video released by the player, José Campaña has apologised to his teammates, the club and Levante fans after his partner showed photos of their daughter at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium wearing a Sevilla shirt during the match between the two teams on Sunday.
Campaña’s partner posted two photos of his daughter on her Instagram account, one of which showed her wearing a Sevilla shirt in the arms of Sevilla president Pepe Castro.
“It wasn’t me, but I feel just as guilty and as a father of a family, I think I have to take responsibility,” Campaña said.
“It was not our intention to disrespect anyone or to laugh at anyone,” he said in the video posted on social media and shared by Levante.
Campaña, who has been at Levante since 2016 and started his career at Sevilla, said that he has always given “everything” for the Valencian club and that “it will continue to be like that”, and asked the fans to accept his apology.
“I would ask you to support the team at all times and that we all row in the same direction,” the Spanish midfielder said before again apologising for his partner’s behaviour.
