Leicester City XI linked with moves away this summer featuring Bruce favourite and £17m title winner

Leicester City are the only Premier League side yet to make a signing with four weeks of the summer transfer window remaining.

But several of the Foxes’ prized assets have been linked with moves away from the King Power Stadium.

Such is the interest in Brendan Rodgers’ players, HITC Sport have been able to put together a Leicester City XI linked with moves away this summer.

After 11 years at the club, the big Dane has departed for Ligue 1 side Nice where the former Leeds United stopper will embark on a new challenge.

Schmeichel, who was part of the Premier League and FA Cup winning sides, made 479 appearances for the club and his place in Leicester City folklore is assured.

Steve Bruce was keen to bring the former England Under-21 international to St James’ Park last summer but that wasn’t a deal the Magpies could pull off.

Now in charge at the Hawthorns, the former Toon Army boss wants to bring the all-action midfielder to West Bromwich Albion.

The 24-year-old made just six Premier League appearances under Rodgers last season.

Chelsea have submitted a £60m bid for the former Saint-Etienne centre-back but the Foxes are holding out for a world-record fee for a centre-back, according to The Times.

Manchester United paid Leicester £80m to sign Maguire and the Foxes seemingly want Thomas Tuchel’s side to eclipse that record to land the Frenchman.

The 21-year-old returned to action in March having suffered a fibula fracture last August.

CB – Jannik Vestergaard

Vestergaard’s £15m move to the King Power Stadium from Southampton last summer hasn’t really worked out for the towering Dane.

The 30-year-old is a back-up centre-back option and he’s been linked with a move to newly-promoted Fulham, according to the Mail.

Newcastle United are interested in signing the England international this summer, but the Foxes have so far resisted PIFs approaches.

The 24-year-old scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists last season, and with Eddie Howe seeking attacking reinforcements, Leicester will likely have to fend off further enquiries to retain the services of their influential number seven.

CM – Boubakary Soumare

Leicester spent £17m to bring Soumare to the club from French side Lille. The Foxes number 42 arrived at the King Power Stadium having won the Ligue 1 title with his former club.

In his maiden campaign in the Premier League, the 23-year-old made 12 top-flight starts, but he’s already been linked with a return to his homeland.

Monaco have had a £15m bid rejected for the former France Under-21 international, but Rodgers is willing to let Soumare despite only spending one season at the club, reports The Mail.

CM – Youri Tielemans

The midfield maestro’s contract at the club expires in June and although the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the former Monaco man, Leicester have received no bids for their number eight.

The 25-year-old has been at the King Power Stadium for three-and-a-half years, and it was the Belgium international’s stunning long-range strike which clinched the 2021 FA Cup against Chelsea.

With Tielemans’ contract continuing to run down, interest in the midfielder could intensify in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The young left-back is on David Moyes’ West Ham United radar, according to the Guardian, but Rodgers won’t want to lose the England Under-21 international.

But with the Foxes seemingly needing to sell before they can buy, the Hammers could tempt the former Premier League champions if they make a suitable offer.

Since making his debut in 2020, the 21-year-old has made 61 appearances for the East Midlands-based side.

AM – James Maddison

Newcastle look to be intent on signing James Maddison this summer but the Magpies haven’t yet met Leicester’s £60m asking price for the former Norwich City attacking midfielder.

The 25-year-old scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists last season, but it does seem like Newcastle are slowly getting closer to Leicester’s valuation.

Since moving to the King Power Stadium from the Canaries, the attacking midfielder has scored 45 goals and provided 32 assists from 171 appearances.

ST – Ayoze Perez

Leicester’s former £30m signing doesn’t look to have a future under the former Swansea City, Liverpool and Celtic manager.

Perez scored two Premier League goals last season and they came in the final game of the 2021-22 campaign, but he only started six top-flight matches.

According to Radio Marca – a Spanish outlet – via SportWitness, there are offers on the table for the Spaniard to return home.

ST – Jamie Vardy

Surely Vardy won’t follow Schmeichel out the exit door at the King Power Stadium? The 35-year-old’s contract expires next summer and talks about a new deal have yet to commence, according to 90min.

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the striker’s contract situation and although Vardy will eventually need replacing, the former England international looks to have plenty left in the tank.

Leicester’s number nine has scored 133 goals in the Premier League and the former Fleetwood Town man is irreplaceable and like Schmeichel will forever be a Foxes legend.
