Leeds United: Fans react to Max Dean academy goal

A number of Leeds United fans have been left impressed after seeing academy starlet Max Dean score a fine goal for the youth team.

Despite only being 17 years old, the young striker is already regular in his side’s Under-23 team. Indeed, this season, he has scored three goals in seven appearances in Premier League 2.

In the club’s recent Premier League Cup outing against Mansfield Town U23s, he helped Leeds claim a narrow 2-1 victory. A powerful left-footed strike put his team 2-0 ahead on the night.

Will Bielsa stay at Leeds after this season?

The official Leeds United Twitter account shared footage of the moment online and it soon had supporters discussing the exciting youngster.

Here’s what these Leeds fans said…

“What a baller.”

“Touch of the Jamie Vardy about Max Dean.”

“Can he teach Harrison?”

“Going to be better than Greenwood imho.”

“How we don’t talk about Max Dean more is beyond me. The boy looks class.”

“Max Dean. Goal machine.”

“He is. We don’t need Nketiah when we’ve got Joffy and this kid coming through, do we?”

It’s clear to see just how hopeful these Leeds fans are over the talented forward’s future.

With Patrick Bamford out injured in recent times, the club have struggled to find a regular goalscoring striker. Perhaps Dean could prove his value if he’s given a chance in the first team – though he is still only 17 years old, so he may have to wait some time before a senior opportunity does arrive.

This was a low point in Leeds United’s history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Who knows, if he can make the step up, he could end up saving the club millions in what they would have spent on other attacking signings.
